He is the co-founder of Runners Playground, an online running coaching company, and the medical director for an international marathon team, which in 2019 took 106 runners to run the New York marathon, in doing so raising a record breaking $250,000+ USD for charity.
He consults clients online and in private practice in Sydney CBD and Wollongong, Australia. He also teaches courses and workshops on movement, rehabilitation, pain science, somatics, embodiment and running.
Michael's practice philosophy is based on the latin root of the word 'Doctor', which means "to teach". He believes his role is as a teacher, a guide and a support to help his clients help themselves move pain-free and perform at their peak. He utilises a range of techniques to support this, including:
- Movement and gait analysis (including running technique analysis)
- Soft tissue therapy and massage including active release techniques
- Dry needling
- Joint manipulation and mobilisation
- Kinesiology
- Kinesio Tape
- Somatic and embodiment techniques
- Rehabilitation exercises
- Strength and conditioning fundamentals
- Training and exercise principles
